How long do you have to stay out of your house after pest control?
Not long at all. We recommend you stay out of your house for just 30-40 minutes to allow for the treatment to dry without any disturbance. Once it has dried it will not be readily absorbed by feet or paws. It’s always a great excuse to go and grab a coffee or take the dog for a walk.
Is it normal to see roaches after spraying?
Yes, it is normal to see an influx of cockroaches for up to 3 weeks, especially if the pest control has not been carried out for long time and pests have built up. During the treatment we ensure our product enters all hidden crevices and holes, disturbing the hidden homes of cockroaches. When we treat areas like under fridges and behind dishwashers and under kitchen cupboards and cabinets, we may disturb nests which will be flushed out and cause abnormal activity. However, there’s no need to worry, the activity will be become minimal within few weeks.
Will roaches come back after extermination?
99% percent of the time our technicians eradicate the problem with the first visit. Should there be a problem we provide a 6-month service warranty to ensure you are 100% satisfied with the service. Some methods to help prevent cockroaches in your home include keeping surfaces clean (especially in the kitchen), emptying the trash often and ensuring eating spaces are kept clean.
Do I need to leave the house for pest control?
If you are sick, pregnant, have infants, are hypoallergenic or have a compromised immune system; we recommend you leave your home while the treatment is being conducted, and not return until 40 minutes post treatment. If you do not fit into any of these categories, you are welcome to stay in your home while the treatment is in process.
How do you clean your house after pest control?
Safe Pest Control technicians are trained to not leave any mess behind. However, you can clean your home as normal, just avoid the areas that have been treated. Do not do any deep cleaning for at least two weeks after your treatment. This will ensure the treatment does not get eradicated and lose its effectiveness.
Should I clean before a pest control service?
Yes, start by moving any large pieces of furniture or appliances away from the walls to facilitate access for the pest control technicians. Additionally, make sure to store away items such as clothes, children's toys, jewelry, makeup, and toiletries in cupboards. In the kitchen, empty the rubbish bin and clear off the countertops. Store all food in thick plastic containers to prevent pests from chewing through and finding refuge inside. If you have pets, carefully store their bedding and toys (ensure cages and aquariums are covered with sheets). After everything has been stored and moved away from the walls, proceed to mop your floors and vacuum your carpets. It's also advisable to mow your lawn and trim any flowering weeds to prevent them from attracting pollinators after they have been sprayed.
Can I do pest control myself?
It is strongly advised to NOT conduct your own pest treatment. Without safe, good quality products, proper equipment and pest control knowledge you can easily put your family and others in danger whilst wasting money and time. Simply give us a call on 1300 119 085 and we will get the job done properly and safely!
What is the best time to do pest control?
Based on Sydney's climate, October is a great time to have a treatment done for insects. During Winter, it is best to focus on rat pest control. Ultimately any time is the right time if you have an outbreak, simply give us a call on 1300 119 085 and we will give you the correct information and advice based on your situation.
Do I need pest control in the winter?
Yes, pest infestations can happen all year round. Rats and mice are especially an issue in the winter months as they usually seek somewhere warm to stay such as roof voids, subfloor or inside your home. To avoid rats and mice invading your home during winter ensure you keep your garden clean and free from possible nesting areas (piles of wood, thick bush etc), patch up holes around the outside and inside of your home, always put the lid securely onto your bins and ensure food is not left uncovered. For other advice or a quote, don’t hesitate to get into contact.
What do I do after my pest control service?
After your pest control treatment, do not clean the treated areas for at least 2 weeks. Repair any leaks around the house; water from leaks serve as an entry for pests and may lead to a re-infestation. In the days following the treatment, you will likely continue to find dead pests, which is due to their hiding places being disturbed during the treatment.
Can you do pest control in the rain?
If your pest control is being conducted internally then we can continue without any worry. However, if the pest control is being conducted outside of the house, we will simply organise an alternative date to come back and finish those areas on a suitable dry day.
How long does it take for roaches to die after pest control?
There are numerous species of cockroaches, each requiring different timelines for pest control effectiveness. For German cockroach species, eradication can take up to 6 weeks in severe cases. However, for the common cockroach, the process may only take up to 2 weeks. It's normal to observe a few cockroaches post-treatment, as they are likely to be displaced from their hiding spots. Be patient, as it may take several weeks for the cockroaches to be fully eliminated. The duration also varies based on the severity of the infestation.
What attracts spiders to your house?
Food is often a large attraction for spiders to come into your home. Humidity or moisture is also another factor they seek out. Spiders enjoy a humid environment. House plants (especially with flowers) tend to naturally attract their 8-legged enviro-friends. Debris around your rubbish bin or in your garden is also the ultimate spider breeding ground. To avoid attracting spiders into your home, ensure your garden is free of debris, food is not left out and your home is generally kept clean and tidy. If you think that your home has a spider problem, give us a call on 1300 119 085 and we will help you out.
What should I do if I see a cockroach?
Cockroaches are nocturnal insects, so it's uncommon to see many of them during the day. However, seeing even one can indicate a much larger hidden population within your home. If you spot cockroaches, make a note of where you've seen them and contact us at 1300 119 085. We'll provide a prompt and straightforward quote and can schedule a treatment with our specialists. This treatment is designed to manage the issue safely, in an eco-friendly and sustainable way.
Is it normal to see more spiders after spraying?
Yes, this is normal and nothing to worry about. Our pesticide treatments tend to flush spiders out of their hiding places. This will often occur immediately after treatment and won’t have a lasting effect. If you are concerned, we offer a 6-month warranty for our treatments so don’t hesitate to give us a call.
How long have cockroaches been on earth?
The oldest cockroach fossils discovered by paleontologists date back to the Carboniferous period, over 300 million years ago. This indicates that cockroaches coexisted with dinosaurs! Their long-standing presence on Earth also suggests that cockroaches could potentially outlive humans, thanks to their resilience.
Is it normal to find a cockroach in your house?
Yes, cockroaches can be found in homes internationally and are a very common insect. If you happen to see a cockroach in your house during the day (they are nocturnal so are usually only active during the night), this could mean that you have a cockroach problem and they are overcrowding. Give us a call on 1300 119 085 and we will help you fix this problem safely.
Can cockroaches come up through toilet?
No, the U-shaped bend in toilet plumbing is referred to as the P-Trap. It utilizes gravity to retain a quantity of water within the bend after flushing, creating a water "plug" that acts as a barrier against sewer gases. This water seal also significantly hampers cockroaches' ability to enter your home through the toilet plumbing.
Why is there a cockroach in my apartment?
Cockroaches are clever insects and can enter small spaces very easily. They can be brought into your apartment in a variety of ways. They may have been brought in from an outside delivery or perhaps your building has an infestation. Any small holes or cracks within your walls can allow for the cockroach to have access to your apartment. Avoid having cockroaches in your apartment by patching up holes and cracks in your walls and avoiding leaving food out for long periods of time. Also avoid having any debris or possible nesting places for the cockroaches to live in.
Why do roaches come out to die?
Once the cockroaches cross any treated areas, they die shortly after. During the treatment process the cockroaches are often disturbed from their hiding places, they then move away and cross a treated area before dying. Without anything to hold them to the ground, their top-heavy bodies topple over and they die belly up, on their backs. This often occurs when cockroaches are treated with pesticides because the treatment affects their nervous system.
Why do cockroaches suddenly appear?
Cockroaches are nocturnal creatures which means that a lot of their activity is hidden from us. The breeding, nesting and moving happens while we are asleep which leads to a “sudden” outbreak of cockroaches once they have built up their numbers and eventually reach an overcrowded point. If you think that you have a cockroach infestation, give us a call and we will solve your problem with our safe spray and pest control service.
Should I be worried if I found one cockroach?
No, finding one or two cockroaches after having a treatment is normal. Depending on the species of cockroach, it can take up to 4 weeks to fully eradicate the problem. If you think that you still have an issue after our treatment, don't hesitate to get in contact with us. We offer a 6-month warranty period to ensure you are 100% satisfied with our treatment. For our Sydney Pest Control, the customer always comes first.
